Historic Maryland - The Surratt House

Before going to Dr. Samuel Mudd’s house to have his broken leg set, Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth made a stop at the Surratt House in current-day Clinton, Maryland, to pick up weapons and other supplies. The owner of the house, Mary Surratt, became the first woman executed by the United States government for her alleged role in the assassination plot, but her guilt is debated to this day. This was the first video in the Historic Maryland series I developed to explore local history.
